Four and Five Year Old – VPK Program

Our VPK Program
At Little Warriors Day School, we are proud to offer Florida’s Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK) program — a foundational year of learning designed to prepare four-year-olds for the exciting journey ahead in kindergarten. Our VPK classroom combines structured, standards-aligned instruction with the joy and wonder of play-based learning, ensuring every child develops the academic skills, social confidence, and emotional readiness they need to thrive in kindergarten and beyond.
A Classroom Built for Big Learners
Our VPK environment is intentionally designed to bridge the gap between preschool and kindergarten. Organized learning centers, a print-rich classroom, dedicated reading and writing spaces, and collaborative group areas give children the tools and environment they need to grow as independent, engaged learners. Routines, expectations, and a structured daily schedule help children develop the self-regulation and focus that kindergarten demands.
Our Approach
We follow Florida’s VPK standards while bringing them to life through creative, hands-on, and meaningful learning experiences. Our lead teachers are experienced, passionate educators who understand that four-year-olds learn best when they are active, curious, and connected. Whole group instruction, small group activities, and individual learning time are woven together throughout the day to meet every child where they are and move them forward.

Kindergarten Transition Support
We take the kindergarten transition seriously. As the VPK year progresses, our team intentionally increases structure, independence expectations, and academic challenge to ensure children are not just meeting kindergarten readiness benchmarks — but exceeding them. We communicate closely with families throughout the year to share progress, address any concerns, and celebrate how far each child has come.
A Partnership With Your Family
Your child’s VPK year is one of the most important years of their early education, and we do not take that responsibility lightly. Our team maintains open, consistent communication through progress reports, parent-teacher conferences, daily updates, and an open-door philosophy that keeps families informed and involved every step of the way. We are not just preparing your child for kindergarten — we are partnering with you to set the foundation for a lifetime of learning.
